Workshops offered by Vital Visions:Public Screening of “Elisabeth of Berlin”
We are now proud to offer public screenings of “Elisabeth of Berlin.” Partial funding for event expenses is available through the Interdenominational Cooperation Fund, an apportionment of the United Methodist Church. In these screenings, Rev. Steven D. Martin, producer of the film, presents the film to your group. Contact us to discuss the right format for your organization.
"Theologians Under Hitler: Why Religion and Politics Matter"
Three important Protestant professors of theology: Gerhard Kittel, Emanuel Hirsch, and Paul Althaus, supported Hitler during the years of the Third Reich. Their scholarship and Christian devotion is unquestioned, yet their political choices set them solidly on the wrong side of history. This workshop uses materials from our documentary film, "Theologians Under Hitler," to ask serious questions about the role of the church in public life. What does it mean when brilliant, devoted Christian people get it wrong? How careful must we be when we pronounce God’s blessing? Does the modern church have the theological resources to recognize evil when it sees it?
This workshop is an excellent way to introduce a discussion of the most difficult issues of the day without confrontation. If you have a church, synagogue, mosque, or community organization that appreciates a deep conversation with new insights, this is the program for you.
This workshop includes a public screening of “Theologians Under Hitler” and use of Vital Visions’ study guide, “A Question of Power.” It can be structured in several different ways ranging from an evening event to a three-day workshop in a retreat setting.
